We have had this pot for almost 3 years now, with almost daily use. I love it. It works as an electric kettle should. We have never had any problems with it. I just wanted to add this review after seeing several negative ones, maybe I've been lucky. I have had only two instances when there developed a rust colored discoloration on the bottom steel plate (inside the pot) and that was when I used tap water instead of filtered water. In our area, tap water does not make good tea because of the high mineral content of the water. The discoloration removed easily with a small amount of scrubbing and has not re-appeared. One feature I did not know about this pot is how quiet it is. I am going to purchase another one for a local group that offers hot water during meetings. The one they have now makes so much noise when heating water it makes it hard to hear whoever is speaking.

This is so good I purchased 3. 1 for my mother as a gift. 1 for me for work. 1 for me and wife for home. It works perfect, the water boils super fast, no hissing or crackling sound you get from metal pots/kettles. The Blue Light; looks amazing in a low lit kitchen and just looks cool and impressive to family and guest. I can highly, highly, highly recommend getting this one. Shipping: The shipping did not send the correct amount, only sent one, had to contact AZ to get the rest of the order, but it was no hassle to do so. for the most part Amazon is great, at least in individual my experience.

I LOVE this kettle. I I have the black one with blue LED lights. It is attractive on my counter and works as described. It doesn't boil EXTREMELY fast, but it doesn't take and age either. I read reviews stating that the glass has broken. I am not sure how that has been done unless you really slammed it into something, or perhaps, you just got a dud carafe. The glass is slim, but not thin. We have really hard water here in the Ohio valley and even though I only put filtered water in it, it still gets a bit of build up. That is really easy to solve. Just put about half a cup of white vinegar and fill the rest with water to the minimum fill line. Turn it on and let it boil to auto shut off. Let sit for about 30 minutes to an hour, then rinse. If the stains are a bit stubborn, they should easily rub off with a sponge. I have used this kettle almost daily now for about 3 months. I would definitely buy another one!! What I like: The lights look neat. I like that the carafe is glass over plastic. It is reasonably priced It has auto-shut off, so you won't boil dry. What I don't like: It could boil a little faster, but overall, not an issue for me.

This is a great water kettle! After I purchased one for ourselves, I purchased this as a gift for a friend...they drink a lot of french pressed coffee and it’s probably their most used appliance in their house. It’s held up well. Note: remember that the kettle is glass. This is what we were looking for...we’ve had both the plastic and stainless before. The stainless held up for the least amount of time due to the start of rust spots...ewwh...the plastic lasted several years, but the plastic itself started to fail, as bits came off in the water....ick! Hence, the search for glass. Obviously, we couldn’t find an electric kettle that was 100% glass... So, it does have plastic on the outside framework protecting the glass, it also has a stainless bottom, silicon seals and a nylon pouring filter...but most the kettle is glass...which has been perfect for us. However, if you have little kids at home, well, keep it out of their reach, they will be attracted to the cool LED lights that light up during the heating process.

I've retired and am wriitng the third book of a science fiction trilogy. I drink a lot of tea. Lots. I was spending more time than I wnated to waiting for the tea kettle to boil, so a friend recommended an electric kettle. After some research, I opted for the Ovente. One month in and it has been great. It heats water very quickly (admittedly I don't put a lot of water in the kettle at any one time) and gets me back to my computer, hot cup of tea in hand in roughly half the time it used to take with a regular kettle. Two notes related to earlier reviews on this product. First, odor of heated plastic. This caused me some concern. Yes, it did smell of heated plastic the first time I used it, but that has not recurred since the first use. Second, some people complained of taste. I had a little hint of that with the first use, but nothing since. My recommendation is that you boil a full kettle full of water and dump it out, That should cure any of the early-use taste issues. One last, silly note. You'll love the blue lights in the base of the kettle. They operate when it is heating and turn off when the kettle shuts down automatically. Yes, I know it is only a gimmic, but it is a cute gimmic and rather pleasant to watch.

***Update*** It's the dead of winter. I'm boiling water all the time and not just for tea. The heat bill is really high. I now fill a hot water bottle with a pot of boiling water and keep it under a blanket. It stays hot for hours and I've lowered my heat bill. This kettle works so good and is a great price. I'm buying a second one. If you have a favorite product, buy a spare. By the time it finally dies, you'll never find another one. Glass Electric Kettle. Works as expected. Boils water in roughly 10 minutes at 5280 feet. Turns itself off. There is no cord attached to the pot itself. It's good. It's especially good for $20.

If you love Tea, buy a proper tea kettle like this one at such a reasonable price. It can bring 1.5 Liters of water to a boil in 5 minutes while you watch the blue light glow. It hits a roiling boil for a minute or two it shuts off to prevent problems. The blue light turns off so you know it will not boil over. We drink a lot of tea but there was something missing. I asked A British friend about it and she said the reason my tea at home wasn't as delicious as hers is because my water temperature is probably too low. She uses an electric kettle to heat the water to a boil and we used our Mr. Coffee for hot water. The coffee maker gets to 192 degrees Fahrenheit and tea steeps best at 212 F (water's boiling point). The next morning, when I walked into the kitchen the first thing I hears was, "Well, Honey, she was right! This is a great cup of tea."

We LOVE this kettle!! During the holiday time we ordered my mother in law one (in purple) for Christmas and she absolutely loves it. She had left it in the kitchen so my hubby and I started using it and fell in love with it. So much that we ordered another one so we could bring it to work (we already had another brand at work in his office but wanted this one). So we ordered the black one ( I wanted the green since it is Seahawk green, but for work he wanted black. I am hoping I can get the green one for me at home!!! Since it is partially clear you can see how it works and the lights make it very pretty when the water is heating up; you dont need to use warm/hot water if you don't want to. It heats up cold water very well. For me I love extra hot water when I am making coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc so I use hot water from the sink. When your water is done heating the light will go off (if you are near it you will also hear the clicking sound too). It is easy to clean and they have both held up very well. Hopefully I can get the bright green one for myself soon!! The value is very good too (about $20). When I ordered these they had over 7 colors! Thanks Ruby Compass!!

Ovente KG83B Glass Electric Kettle, 1.5-Liter, Black - I've had this Ovente electric kettle for exactly 3 years now and I love it as much now as I did when I first received it. It's so convenient to fill it with water and plug it in...minutes later, you have boiling water for tea, instant coffee, jell-o, ramen, you name it. We have taken this kettle camping when we have electricity at our campground and no longer have to rely on having a campfire to heat water for tea, coffee or hot cocoa. People love the blue light and I've received many compliments on this kettle. It's fun to watch because of the pretty light. The cord is not very long but is super sturdy. The kettle goes on the base easily and spins so the handle is on whatever side you need to pick it up. The kettle automatically shuts off and makes a "click" sound when the water is ready. If you get used to that click sound, you know exactly when your boiling water is ready. The click is definitely not loud, but I can hear it a couple rooms away, so it's a helpful sound.

I paid full price for this product. I did NOT receive any discount for this product. I can't live without a hot pot in my kitchen. I've been using one for ten years. Our old cheap hot pot was great but hubby broke it and I had to find a replacement. I really think the lights are pretty on this although that's not why I bought it lol. It heats up fast and that's what I need for a quick cup of tea, hot cocoa or hot apple cider. Love it because it's so convenient, faster and easier than using the stove for me and it comes in handy since it lifts off and is cord free. I would not want one that was not cord free. I like the freedom to move it around the kitchen to pour it. I like that it is glass. I feel like that is just healthier in general to get away from BPA products. The lid is on there great and you just push a button to lift it up. I have also used this to boil eggs, although I probably shouldn't because of an egg busted in there I would risk messing up the unit. It worked, though! So for those of you wondering if it boils eggs then yes, it does that too lol. So far, so good!!! Loving it! Will update if I have any problems at all with it.
